If you like using Google to search for things on the Internet, know that you can make Google your home page and default search engine in all major Web browsers, including Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. If you set Google as your home page, it is displayed automatically when you launch the Web browser. The default search engine is used when you search using the browser's address field or the integrated search box.
Mozilla Firefox
To change the default search engine, click the arrow in the Search box on the toolbar and choose "Google" from the menu. To change the home page, click the Firefox button and click "Options" to open the Options window. Type "www.google.com" into the "Home Page" field on the General tab.
Google Chrome
To change the default search engine, right-click the address field, choose "Manage search engines" to open the Search Engines dialog box, choose "Google" from the list and then click the "Make Default" button. To change the home page, click the Chrome menu button, select "Settings" from the menu, under "Appearance" check the "Show Home button" box, click "Change" below the box and then type "www.google.com" into the field.
Internet Explorer
To change the default search engine, launch Internet Explorer from the Desktop, click the gear icon and choose "Manage add-ons" from the menu. Select "Search Providers," click "Find more search providers," select "Google" and click the "Add to Internet Explorer" button. Check the "Make this my default search provider" box and then click "Add."
To change the home page, navigate to Google, point the mouse to the lower-right corner of your screen, move the pointer up and click "Settings." Click "Options" and then click "Customize" in the Home Pages section. Click "Add current site" and then click "Add."
